Most people start the new year with diet and fitness resolutions.
I believe February is a much better time to get started on fitness and diet resolutions.
In January, most of us are still recovering from the holidays and–although we hopefully have started cleaning up our diet–it can be hard to make changes all at once.
I use January to organize my house for the New Year.
I like to:
–my January is packed! By the time I feel more organized and ready for the new year, it’s almost February!
Done properly, the new hCG program really can help you lose 2 sizes in about a month. hCG injections combined with a restricted food intake for 20 or 40 days can help you slim down safely—and fast! In November, we introduced this newest program, and we’ve seen fantastic results. Our hCG program differs from others in that it is medically supervised and every participant is supported by our experienced staff.
The hCG program is not a quick-fix starvation system. The program is: Read the rest of this entry »

Do you think you’re doing pretty well in keeping up with your water intake? Or are you the opposite and need help in keeping track of your water intake?
We’ve found smartphone applications for all the major operating systems that can help you keep track of the water you actually consume. You may be surprised at how much or little water you actually drink. If you use any of these applications or have others that you use and like, please feel free to comment so we can share your input.
Keep in mind that if you drink caffeine during the day, we recommend you drink at least as much water, if not double the amount of ounces of caffeinated beverage you consumed.
The following smartphone applications for Blackberry, iPhone, and Android phones are not in any way affiliated with Balanced Health and Wellness, and we cannot verify the integrity of the applications. Use at your own risk.
If you’ve ever had one of my massages, you know how it always ends: a big glass of water and a strong reminder to continue to drink water throughout your day. Why? What’s so important about water? Let’s start at the beginning:
The most important glass of the day is first thing in the morning, because your muscles dehydrate when you’re sleeping. (Did you know your muscles are 70% water?) But even if that were not the case, I’d recommend it anyway because water benefits your body in so many ways, such as:
If you don’t drink enough water, your overall health will decline. How much is enough? We suggest dividing your body weight by two, take that number and drink that many ounces of water a day. For example, if you weighed 100 lbs, dividing by 2 equals 50. This person should drink 50 ounces of water a day. (see note at bottom of story for some smartphone apps that can help you track your daily water intake)
So that’s the basic background on why you should drink plenty of water. What does water have to do with massages? Plenty!
Drinking water before your massage helps hydrate your muscles so they’re easier to manipulate. Massage stimulates circulation and expresses water, salt, minerals, and toxins from your muscles. Drinking water after a massage flushes out the waste materials, which results in less muscle soreness and aching, and re-hydrates your muscles. The symptoms of muscle dehydration include:
Don’t reverse all the benefits of your massage by neglecting to properly hydrate your body and your muscles afterwards. So raise your glass of pure, clean water to keeping you healthy!
Cheers!
